Patrick F. McNally

MBA, CPA, ABV, CFF

Partner in Charge, Corporate Finance Consulting

Patrick McNally is the lead Partner of our Corporate Finance Consulting Group.

Patrick has helped Blackman Kallick's clients achieve the greatest financial returns for their companies, their stakeholders and themselves.

Patrick is a specialist in buying and selling businesses, valuation, raising capital and financing, strategic business planning, operational improvements and turnaround management.

"We need to first determine where the owners want to take their businesses and then match this to their personal goals. There's often more to 'success' than getting the highest price ... though that's a good start."

Patrick has given presentations and written papers on mergers, acquisitions and turnaround strategies at leading business organizations such as the University of Chicago Booth School of Business CEO Roundtable, The Presidents Forum of The Entrepreneurship Institute and the Alliance of Mergers and Acquisition Advisors (AMAA). He has written numerous articles on topics from benchmarking to business transfer issues. Additionally, Patrick has served as an expert witness on a variety of matters related to his areas of expertise.

He and his team have coordinated the sale of businesses up to $100 million in annual revenues, exceeding the owners' financial expectations, while also making sure the owners realize their own personal dreams. Patrick feels that business owners should first strongly consider whether a sale is right for them and how their businesses might be made far more marketable prior to any proposed sale. Patrick also strongly believes that correctly managing post-sale issues and taxes is as critical as negotiating the sale itself.

"It's not just how much you sell for. It's how much you keep after you sell."

Prior to joining Blackman Kallick, Patrick held a variety of positions with a diverse range of companies, from management with venture capital start-ups to senior management with Fortune 500 subsidiaries.

Patrick is a CPA, is accredited in business valuations (ABV) and certified in financial forensics by the AICPA. He is a member of the Illinois CPA Society (the Society) and serves on the Society's Consulting Services Executive Committee. He is also a member of the AICPA, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

A native Chicagoan, Patrick obtained his MBA with a concentration in Business Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business(formerly Graduate School of Business) and his BBA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame.

And what might come as no surprise to anyone who has seen the less serious side of Patrick, he once spent a year "studying" at Second City. Fortunately for Blackman Kallick and our clients, Patrick's negotiating and analytical skills far outshined his comedic abilities.
