Matt manages several of the firm’s larger and more complex audit engagements for clients engaged in the manufacturing, distribution, financial services, private equity, construction and service industries. Matt leads the firm’s Financial Services audit practice. In addition, Matt is the partner in charge of the firms SAS 70 and SSAE 16 audit practice, performing audits and risk assessments in accordance with the Service Organization Control (SOC) reporting framework.   In connection with SOC reporting audits, he assists clients in enhancing operational effectiveness, identifying cost reductions and evaluating internal controls to reduce fraud and potential losses.

“What excites me most about my career is building strong relationships with clients and constantly learning more about what they do,” said Matt. “The more I know, the better I can advise them.”

Matt’s accounting expertise is complimented by a strong technology background. This combination of skills and talents allows him to counsel clients on the most effective use of technology for streamlining financial reporting capabilities, implementing data warehousing concepts, and developing cost, pricing and cash flow models. Matt also leads Blackman Kallick’s internal technology committee, which guides the firm in evaluating and adopting strategic technology initiatives.

Matt holds a BS in Accounting from Albion College and began his career in 1994 as a staff auditor with The Rehmann Group. He joined Blackman Kallick in 1996. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society and is treasurer of the Ravenswood Industrial Council Board of Directors.
