Brian K. Langham
CPA
Partner-in-Charge, Emerging Enterprises and Technology
As head of Blackman Kallick’s Emerging Enterprises and Technology practice, Audit Partner Brian Langham addresses the accounting and growth needs of fast-growing companies, including technology, life sciences, pharmaceutical, and green energy companies.
Brian prepares emerging enterprises for the next stage of growth by:
- Addressing complex accounting issues such as share-based compensation and revenue recognition for multiple deliverable arrangements
- Overseeing preparation of audited financial statements for purposes of an initial public offering (IPO), merger, or acquisition
- Managing the IPO, merger, or acquisition process and coordinating with all parties to clarify expectations and responsibilities, minimize inefficiencies, and make sure all parties are moving toward the ultimate goal
- Counseling development-stage companies on the steps required for potential exit strategies
Brian also leads Blackman’s successful SEC practice. For over 25 years he has served clients in a variety of industries, including many large manufacturing and distribution companies and foreign corporations looking to be listed on U.S. stock exchanges. Leveraging that knowledge of SEC requirements and growth strategies, Brian launched the Emerging Enterprises and Technology group, which has quickly become a dominant player in the technology-heavy Chicago market.
With experience advising a variety of public and private entities, Brian is adept at guiding emerging businesses through the steps involved in each of the growth alternatives. Brian knows the challenges that accompany high growth, such as managing complex equity structures and identifying new sources of capital. By making sure emerging enterprises have the proper accounting infrastructure and corporate structures in place well before the expected event horizon, he keeps entrepreneurs on the right path to achieve their long-term goals while avoiding costly mistakes that could ultimately derail the company’s growth. And when those critical accounting requirements are properly addressed, entrepreneurs can focus on being creative and growing their businesses.
