Brian Carter is a Tax Partner and member of the Family Office and Private Equity and Venture Capital groups at Blackman Kallick. His skills and responsibilities include the following:
- Works with affluent families, family offices, high net worth individuals, and corporate executives, providing comprehensive planning in all areas of tax including individual, flow-through, and wealth-transfer matters.
- Provides tax consulting and compliance services to privately held real estate, private equity, and venture capital funds; manufacturing companies; financial service businesses; and business owners.
- Provides strategic advice to clients in matters regarding family office structure, charitable giving strategies, and other income tax planning opportunities.
- Speaks on family office matters including income tax planning and charitable giving.
Clients appreciate the extensive knowledge and experience that Brian brings to them, especially his skills and expertise in advising family offices. He enjoys working with clients to help integrate tax strategies and ideas to achieve real financial results.
Credentials and Professional Involvement
Before joining the firm, Brian was in the private client advisors group at Deloitte. He received his BS and MS in Accounting from the University of Kansas School of Business and completed his MS in Taxation at DePaul University. In addition to his public accounting experience, Brian has served as the controller at a private equity firm in Chicago as well as at a restaurant management company. Brian is a regular contributor to the Blackman Kallick Tax Highlights publication and has contributed to Taxes - The Tax Magazine.
Brian is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, the Chicago Estate Planning Council, and the Planned Giving Committee of the American Technion Society. In addition, he currently serves as a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, where he also served as an executive board member of the Young Leadership Division.
