Watson Chosen to Participate at FASB & IASB Roundtable on Lease Accounting

Jeffery Watson, a Quality Assurance Senior Manager at Blackman Kallick, has been invited to be one of 15 select professionals chosen to participate in the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) special leases roundtable for not-for-profit organizations and private companies.

In conjunction with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), FASB  is hosting the public roundtable meeting to discuss their August 2010 Exposure Draft, Proposed Accounting Standards Update—Leases (Topic 840). The Chicago roundtable is part of a series of international roundtables planned by the FASB and the IASB, designed to provide interested stakeholders the opportunity to engage in a constructive dialogue about the Exposure Draft.

“I’m excited and honored to be selected as a participant in the roundtable discussion on the Exposure Draft on leases and be able to contribute to the standard setting process of the FASB and IASB. If adopted as written, the Exposure Draft has the potential of causing significant pre- and post-implementation issues, resulting in higher consultation fees for affected entities, ” said Jeffery.

In addition to the US roundtables, the FASB and the IASB plan public roundtable meetings in London (Friday, December 17) and Hong Kong (Monday, December 20). Details about these sessions will be announced at www.ifrs.org
