Deb Rood is a Senior Manager in the firm’s State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.  She is a frequent speaker on state and local tax issues for professional and business groups. Deb has authored articles for professional journals and is a regular contributor to Blackman Kallick’s tax publication, Tax Highlights. She consults with clients on state and local issues including compliance, nexus, voluntary disclosure and examination issues. 

Deb has assisted clients in structuring operations to minimize state taxes and in connection with sales tax matters. Additionally, she has represented clients in disputes with state departments of revenue throughout the United States.

Deb received her BA in Accounting from Northern Illinois University and a MS in Taxation from DePaul University. She is a founding member and chair of the HLB North America SALT Group. Deb is a member of the AICPA and a former member of its State and Local Taxation Technical Resource Panel. Deb is a member of the Illinois CPA Society, the former chairperson of the Society’s Tax Executive Committee and former chairperson of the Society’s State and Local tax committee, in both of which she remains active.
