Audit Senior 

Brent is an Audit Senior in Blackman Kallick’s Insurance Group, where he performs financial statement audits primarily for property and casualty companies. He also has experience auditing manufacturing companies and professional services firms.

Brent serves his clients by:

• Performing and supervising audit fieldwork
• Preparing financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with statutory accounting rules, as well as with US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP)
• Providing feedback to clients on effectiveness of financial processes

Brent helps his clients improve the overall quality of their business by providing a more complete view of financial operations and forecasted performance. He becomes immersed in the day-to-day operations of his clients’ businesses and offers suggestions to save time and money and allow for smoother financial reporting. 

Brent has experience with companies of all sizes, as well as an understanding of the financial processes that work for companies at each stage of their development. This allows him to validate that his clients’ business processes are appropriate to scale to their next growth stage, while advising on any potentially limiting practices or procedures.

Brent thrives on challenge, which is what draws him to the constantly evolving world of insurance. He is attuned to insurance companies’ need for future-looking balance sheets with adequate liquidity to protect against the unpredictability of accidents and loss. He stays current with the statutory accounting rules from the NAIC and other insurance accounting standards.

Credentials and Professional Involvement

Brent earned a Certified Information Systems Auditor designation, and he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. He received a BS from the University of Dayton, specializing in accounting, finance, and international business.
